First off - Did I miss something?   Did I get the idea that Lora might be getting ready to go on a mission?   I forgot to ask your mom when she came to visit Grandma.   Brian will be coming home in June?   I've read the letters on and off, sounds like he's done good!

So, I'm not sure what your mom has told you about grandma Jo.   For New Year's Eve I had her in the E.R. with pneumonia.   She was released shortly after midnight with meds and recovered.   March 6th I had her back in the E.R. with kidney failure (that was her problem three years ago).   She was in I.C.U. until Saturday.   She is back at Emeritus on the 4th floor, the skilled nursing and rehab floor.   She'll be there for about two more weeks when she'll be discharged to move back to Assisted Living, but it will be with Hospice.   She's made some progress with therapy and is feeding herself, only problem is she isn't eating much.   The dementia is getting worse which causes some of her problems, not remembering that she's thirsty, swallowing, food doesn't matter to her, etc.

So, the next step is to keep her comfortable, let her eat all the vanilla ice cream she wants, keep her comfortable and let nature takes it's course.   What time that means I don't know.   Because she doesn't say much or express any discomfort I'll ask her yes/no questions to make sure she's okay.   The best question that I came up with last year is "Are you content?"   The answer is always yes, that tells me she's okay with things.

As for me, many changes have recently come in my life.   After two years of not doing anything with the Choir I was officially released and honored at a luncheon with some of the office staff on March 15th.   I've received my plaque for service, something started when Wendell Smoot was the President.   I got all the boxes of Choir stuff out of my house the end of February.   Now I'm working on downloading computer files and turning it all over to the powers that be.   There were many things left unfinished, but I did the best I could and need others to get involved and get things completed.   I can still get CDs for now if there is anything that you'd like. I want to get each of my nieces and nephews (per family) the new CD with primary songs.   I'll try to do that this coming week and get them in the mail.

I'm doing a little better health wise, finally have some relief from the fatigue with Vitamin D 50,000 units twice a week and thyroid medication.   I will be having another reconstruction surgery on April 3rd, I'm hoping it's the last one.   I still have about two more years on the Tomaxifen which I'm ready to be done with, but thankful that I have it.

Work has been stressful for many years, things have finally come to a head and management doesn't seem to want to work with me (I worked in the Payroll Department for the Church).   I'm filing for Medical Leave, my last day at work was March 19th.   I'll also be applying for Long Term Disability with DMBA, our benefits provider.   I need to get my feet back under me, sleep if my body says sleep.   I've pushed for so long and have been through a few things in the last four/five years.

Please know how much I love all of you, I think of you often and have the desire to let you know of that love, just haven't had the energy to do all that I desire.   I'm thankful for this site to keep you updated on a few things in my life and grandma's.   Though we may not be as familiar with one another, especially the great-nieces and nephews, I'm thankful you're part of my family.   I'm proud of all of you and what you stand for.

Love,
Aunt Marene

Aw, I always love to hear how you're doing.   You've always been a great example to me, and I'm sorry things have been so tough.   But I'm glad you are feeling a little better, and hope that leaving work will end up being a great blessing.   You're in our prayers often.

Thanks also for keeping us updated about Grandma.   We will be driving through Utah in July and I had great plans of being able to see her.   Sending both of you my love.
