| | We had the big ultrasound yesterday and haven't had any urgent messages from the doctor yet, so I assume all is well. The baby was, as almost all babies seem to be, quite difficult and uncooperative. It was curled into such a ball that its thighs were touching its face. Also, I've never had such a painful ultrasound in my life. The tech's excuse was that I was having a braxton hicks contraction which made all of her pushing hurt more than usual. I think she just pushes crazy hard. Although the purpose of the ultrasound is to get a real picture of how the baby is developing, the only thing parents seem to worry about is the sex of the baby. We're no different. After about 45 minutes of searching everything that could possibly be looked at, the tech finally got to the goods and told us the gender. I was pretty sure it was a boy, just because I have a long convoluted theory about the way my body works that makes conceiving a girl next to impossible. My symptoms have been different this time, but I also haven't been pregnant for 4 years, so the idea that my body might be having a tough time getting back into the swing of things isn't too surprising. With all of this in mind I was very pleasantly surprised to find out we're having a girl! I feared this day would never come and that I would be left in my old age with a quiet husband and several boys who never bother to call. Knowing I'll have a girl that wants to talk every few days makes me think my future will be a less gloomy prospect than I'd previously imagined. That's all of the big news for the next few months until the little lady decides to make an appearance and we can announce her birth. That is, if she doesn't end up being a boy. The tech kept complaining that the baby's leg crunch made getting a good look pretty difficult. | | |

| | It may be a girl, but she's still got Law genes in there. So she still might never call.
But nonetheless, that's still exciting news! And I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who develops long, convoluted theories. | | |

| | I won't deny that I've had fears that the Law Genes of Silence will dominate. But at least ONE of my kids ought to be a Grow, and I figure it might as well be the girl :) | | |
